Good Day!
I'm Philip Man, I've an MA in New Media & Digital Cultures and a BSc in Béta-Gamma, both at the University of Amsterdam. I like to stand on the intersection between humanities and science. Currently I am working on starting two ventures. See profile description for more info.
On the right in times there are mobile snapshots to show what I'm up to and to share some thoughts.
Feel free to say hi at philip[at]philipman[dot]net, Linked In, my following Twitter @manphilip or even my very personal Facebook.

Probably more than anyone else, a new media scholar has to discuss the phenomenon privacy in relation to new technology. Especially the threat of new technology on privacy. They say "man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains." But the value of privacy is overstated, it is hyped. It is a bubble not waiting to be burst, but one that is slowly deflating. The notion of privacy is invented by some lawyers long ago and is unnatural to humans. We are social beings. What if we dare to sacrifice all control of what to show in the public realm? What if every individual action is visible? Would that lead to a utopian (or distopian) world of uncompromised honesty? If you pay attention to the world around you, it must be clear that we are headed in that direction. Less privacy leads to more freedom in the mind, which is empowering and liberating. I want to explore this new world and its implications. I want to break free from the chains. I start here, for everyone to see. Never hide
